Cedar Shoals High School JROTC

AACF was proud to provide fundraising support for the Cedar Shoals High School JROTC Cadets who represented Georgia in the 70th Anniversary of D-Day Memorial Parade in St Mere Eglise, France on June 6th, 2014! Of all the approximately 3,500 JROTC programs in the nation, only 50 are selected for the parade. For Cedar Shoals, the honor is well-deserved- the Cedar Shoals High School JROTC program is an “Honor Unit with Distinction,” which rates them in the top 10% of programs nationwide. Thirty members of the Jaguar Battalion worked for more than a year to raise $90,000 for the trip. “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our young Cadets,” says Lt. Col. Eric Cleveland. “They were able to see firsthand a world they’ve only known through media,” he adds. Delene Porter, AACF’s CEO, says “the community foundation exists to help us pool our resources to make good things happen. It was an honor to join forces with the bigger philanthropic community to help these students.”
